Carl Abseck

Bio

I am a graduate of Bridgeport High School, attended Ranger Junior College and graduated with a B.A. in Sports And Exercise Science from Midwestern State University. I am a 28 year veteran of Texas High School Football. 10 years as a Head Coach at Cedar Park High School, Barbers Hill High School and currently at Lufkin High School getting ready to begin my 1st year. I began my career at Wichita Falls High School in 1997 and coached in The Falls for 8 years, Cedar Park for 16 and Barbers Hill for 4 years. I have a 102-27 career record as a HC, 5 District Championships, 1 State Runner-Up in 2020, and 1 State Championship in 2015. As the Offensive Coordinator and or assistant, I have been a part of 10 District Championships, 1 State Semi-Finalist, 1 State Runner-Up in 2014 and 1 State Championship in 2012. I have been honored to be named the District Coach of the Year 5x, Austin American Statesman Central Texas Coach of the Year in 2015 and the Padilla Poll Texas 5A Coach of the Year in 2015. I have also coached basketball for 4 years and baseball for 14 years. I have been married to my best friend Audra for almost 26 years, and we have 2 children, Gunnar 22 years old and Carly 18. Audra is an RN with over 24 years of experience, Gunnar is currently the DFO and TE coach at the University of Texas Permian Basin and Carly is about to graduate from Barbers Hill and will attend Texas State University. We are blessed to be in Lufkin, Texas and proud to be Panthers!
